So wonderful not to know
For every ripple, burble, flash, bounce, zap, squeak, pop, and grin
To fill a mind with fascination
The first strange recognition of alien life
Looking out through bulbous eyes down low to the sidewalk
Days when discovery was a more potent drug than caffeine
And a bar code scanner was a source of endless entertainment
I know too much now
Rainbows broken down to nothing more
Than light reflecting off of water particles
An inscrutable smile just a twitch of facial muscles
I’ve gained a world of knowledge
Only to lose a soul of beauty
The only thing that astonishes me now
Is how quickly astonishment is lost
Ignorance is so bliss! Beautiful piece.
Ignorance is bliss. Like so bliss. Like OMG bliss!
🙂
“The only thing that astonishes me now
Is how quickly astonishment is lost”
Brilliant.
You are too kind.

Took the words right out of my mind. Beautifully poetic and so right.
Aww…thanks!
